WhatsApp QR Code Generator: Start Chats With One Scan (Free)

Updated November 4, 2026 · 2 min read

A WhatsApp QR code opens a conversation with your number the moment someone scans it. It is ideal for small shops, freelancers, events and customer support because the customer does not need to save your contact first. You can create one for free with Loqo.

How it works

The code stores a wa.me link such as https://wa.me/14155550123. The number must include the country code, written with digits only. You can add a pre-filled message, so the chat opens with your text ready to send, for example "Hi, I would like to order the lunch set."

Steps

  1. Choose the WhatsApp tab in Loqo.
  2. Enter the full international number, for example +14155550123.
  3. Optionally write a short welcome message.
  4. Style the code with your brand colors and logo.
  5. Download, then test by scanning with a phone that has WhatsApp installed.

Good places to use it

Best practices

Tell people what happens when they scan. A short line like "Scan to chat with us on WhatsApp" gets far more scans than a bare square. Use a business number rather than a personal one if you will share the code publicly, because anyone who scans can message you. Because the code is static, it keeps working as long as the number is active.
